A section of Queen’s College in the Yaba area of Lagos state has been gutted by fire.
The fire outbreak started in a two-room quarter located behind the school staff quarters.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire outbreak in a statement on Sunday evening.
Margaret Adeseye, the director of the service, however, said there was no casualty.
According to Adeseye, men of the state fire service were swiftly on the ground to quench the fire.
“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the fire has since been put out by a combined effort of the Lagos State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service, while the police who were also alerted, prevented hoodlums from forcefully gaining access to the school premises,” the statement reads.
“No life was lost in the incident.”
Founded on October 10, 1927, Queen’s College, Lagos is a government-owned girl’s secondary (high) school with boarding facilities.
