The legend of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti cannot be fully told without recourse to the queens of the Afrobeat icon.
Whenever Fela stepped out, they were often in tow — colourful in appearance, demeanour and fashion.
They were by every means the perfect complement to the entourage of the Afrobeat progenitor.
In celebration of their impact and respective roles in his life, Terra Kulture is set to host a musical entitled Fela and the Kalakuta Queens.
Sponsored by MTN Foundation, the stage play seeks to tell the true story of the queens and the colour they brought to Fela’s life.
According to the organisers, Bolanle Austen Peters Production, the play is pregnant with the promise of a tale rich in history, humour, drama, music and dance, and sublime choreography.
Rehearsals for Fela and the Kalakuta Queens were said to have been held for over a year.
Almost a year of preparation, 2 months of intense rehearsals, the Kalakuta Queens and their King has begun shutting down lagos with their iconic musicals.Don’t Miss Out,Get Excited,Get Your Tickets by clicking this link 👉🏿👉🏿 https://t.co/98JkCNUyiF.#FelaAndTheKalakutaQueens pic.twitter.com/foauD0uaDd
