Josephine Adeh, the police spokesperson in the FCT, has warned that no person has the right to order the law enforcement agency to make arrests based on personal feuds.
The police PPRO issued the warning on Saturday in a social media post to bloggers, vloggers, and online influencers.
Adeh clarified that police officers only make arrests after thorough investigations, not because someone demands them.
She also stressed that anyone implicated in a case must cooperate and share their side of the story, rather than evading the issue.
“Hey influencers, Bloggers, and Vloggers: Let’s set the record straight! No one—yes, NO ONE—can just “order” the police to make an arrest. The Police act on real investigations, not personal vendettas,” the post reads.
“If you’re in hot water, cooperate, avail yourself and tell your side of the story. Ignoring it could land you in serious trouble, no matter who you think you are. Stop spreading misinformation! Let’s be guided.”

Adeh’s tweet comes a few days after the arrest and detention of Darlington Okoye, the singer better known as Speed Darlington.
Darlington’s detention in Abuja stemmed from a formal complaint filed by Burna Boy. He was accused of defaming and cyberstalking the Grammy winner.
Although Darlington was released after five days in detention, Burna Boy was called out on social media for allegedly ordering the arrest of his colleague.
