Fans sue Madonna for starting concert ‘two hours’ late

Two fans of Madonna have filed a lawsuit against the American music star for allegedly starting her concert late.

Last year, the ace singer postponed her 40 years in music celebration tour from July to December over a “serious” bacterial infection.

Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, disclosed that the 64-year-old singer spent several days in intensive care after developing the infection.

Oseary also said there would be a pause on all of the singer’s commitments.

But during one of the concerts held in December, at the Barclays Center, New York, Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, the plaintiffs, claimed Madonna started the shows two hours later than scheduled.

They also alleged that, unlike previous times, there was no prior notice as to when the concert was to be held after it was shifted from July.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs alleged that Live Nation, organiser of the concert, and Barclays Center, owe big damages for starting the show at 10:30 pm instead of 8:30 pm (ET).

“By the time of the concerts’ announcements, Madonna had demonstrated flippant difficulty in ensuring a timely or complete performance, and Defendants were aware that any statement as to a start time for a show constituted, at best, optimistic speculation,” the suit reads.

“In addition, many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.”

The plaintiffs also said they would not have purchased tickets if they had known the concert would start and end so late.

The suit also detailed accounts of Madonna arriving late for concerts, citing her shows in Miami (2012), Melbourne (2016), and Brisbane (2016).
