A video of Lekan Odunare, a national diploma certificate holder, jumping into a Lagoon in Lagos — in an attempt to commit suicide — has surfaced online and gone viral.

The incident was said to have happened around 10 am on December 14 at Epe LGA of Lagos.

In the now-viral video, Odunare, who is said to be a worker at Alaro City along Lekki-Epe expressway, could be seen sitting on the rails of a bridge wearing a sober look.

As he was about plunging himself into the lagoon, a man who was filming him could be heard asking him questions but Odunare did not respond.

After a short while, the diploma holder looked around and then jumped into the lagoon to the dismay of those around the scene.

It is understood that his body is yet to be recovered from the lagoon since the incident happened.

Usman, a brother to Odunare, told The Punch that the family has commenced a search for his body. He added that Odunare did not open up to anyone about facing a challenge.

“I don’t even understand the situation. He just wished to do that to himself. He used to be depressed once in a while, but at least he should have come out and spoken to someone,” he was quoted to have said.

“If there was anything bothering him, he should have talked but that was how he chose to live his life. It has not been easy for our mother, but she will get over it as time goes on.

“We have not seen his body; we are searching for his body and hoping he will float to the shore because the lagoon is deep and nobody can enter into it.”

Adekunle Ajisebutu, Lagos police command spokesman, is yet to respond to TheCable Lifestyle’s inquiries on the incident as of the time of this report.
