Falz, the Nigerian rapper, has called for the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, citing the government’s failure to address the country’s escalating security crisis.

The 35-year-old artiste, whose real name is Folarin Falana, took to social media on Wednesday to voice his outrage over the pervasive insecurity leaving Nigerians vulnerable to attacks.

Falz highlighted a past post from Tinubu’s X account, in which he had once called for the resignation of then-President Goodluck Jonathan.

The rapper accused Tinubu of hypocrisy, arguing that he only “pretended to care about Nigerians in 2014 when he was not in power”.

Falz lamented that Tinubu has now “consistently shown [an] unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people” while demanding that he “resign now!”

“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!” he wrote.

Falz’s sentiment was echoed by Debo Adebayo, a fellow entertainer and activist popularly known as Mr. Macaroni.

Similarly, invoking Tinubu’s past social media posts, Mr. Macaroni quoted a 2013 tweet where Tinubu stated, “No responsible government permits its youth to suffer”.

The activists’ outbursts come hours after a video of armed men attacking a church in Kwara state went viral.
