Falz, the rapper and son of Femi Falana, the human rights lawyer, has given VeryDarkMan, the social media critic, a 24-hour ultimatum to retract alleged defamatory statements against him.
The ultimatum followed after VeryDarkMan shared a purported audio conversation wherein Bobrisky, the social media celebrity, claimed that the senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son contacted her.
Bobrisky claimed she spoke with Falz in prison and that the rapper and his dad “tried to get me a presidential pardon”.
“Falz and Femi Falana spoke to Bobrisky in order to diverge justice. And this same Falz dare to say he’s fighting against government’s oppression,” VeryDarkMan said in an Instagram video.
In the footage, the controversial figure alleged Falana attempted to secure the presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10,000,000.
But in a letter from Falana & Falana Chambers, Falz, born Folarin Falana, demanded an immediate retraction and apology for the claims made in the video.
The letter described the claims as “vicious, wicked, and reckless,” adding that Falana never contacted Bobrisky.
Falz also clarified that it was the crossdresser who called him to seek financial assistance of “N3 million to pay some officials,” which he declined.
“Your publication of September 25, 2024, on your Instagram page captioned “In everything and everyone that is mentioned here, I will be disappointed if truly FALZ and his father are involved in this whole Bobrisky issue…” has been drawn to our notice wherein you made some defamatory statements against our client,” it reads.
“To set the records straight, our client never at any point initiated a conversation with Mr Idris Okuneye. Our client has documentary evidence that Mr. Idris was in fact the one who initiated a call.
“Specifically, on the 4th of May 2024, Mr Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) contacted our client requesting a phone conversation with him. Our client gratuitously obliged, having knowledge of the Naira abuse charges leveled against him, and genuinely believing he might require legal advice.
“Mr Idris Okuneye (Aka Bobrisky) called shortly after but instead of soliciting legal advice, stated that he was in distress and needed financial assistance of about N3,000,000 (Three million Naira) which he claimed he needed to pay some officials to be permitted to stay in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.”
In the letter, Falana asked that the public apology be published across all platforms where the false information was disseminated.
The letter added that should the retraction and apology not be issued within 24 hours, the chambers would pursue legal action, including claims for monetary damages.

VeryDarkMan also shared a video of Bobrisky claiming she bribed some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15,000,000 to drop the money laundering charges against her.
The crossdresser, whose birth name is Idris Okuneye, was released from prison on August 5 after she was sentenced to six months on April 12 for abusing the naira.
But in the footage, the crossdresser claimed her “godfather” alongside Haliru Nababa, the controller general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), ensured she served the six-month sentence in a private apartment, and not the prison.
Bobrisky would later deny the bribery claim, arguing that the viral recording was “fake”. The social media celebrity also insisted that “I served my term in prison”.
The crossdresser’s denial came after the EFCC invited her and VeryDarkMan over bribery allegations against its officials.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, also ordered a comprehensive investigation into bribery allegations within the NCoS.
