A young man from Kano state sparked public outcry after climbing a high-rise billboard and threatening to jump unless his favorite TikTok celebrities came to see him.
The incident occurred at Gadar Lado where the unidentified man scaled the towering structure, drawing crowds and prompting emergency intervention.
Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Kano state police public relations officer, confirmed the situation in a social media post, stating that the man had vowed to leap if his online idols failed to appear.
“Right now the security forces are trying to rescue him. He said if celebrities who follow on TikTok don’t go there, he will fall. May God protect us,” he wrote.

Security operatives mobilised to the scene, attempting to de-escalate the tense standoff.
Bystanders gathered, with many speculating whether the act was a desperate cry for help or merely a social media stunt to gain fame.
After hours of negotiation, security officials successfully brought the man down.
Kiyawa later confirmed his rescue, stating that he had been taken to the police hospital in Bompai for medical attention.
“At last the young man was rescued and taken to police hospital in Bompai,” the police spokesperson added.
