A video of a tiny kitten feeding on milk from a lactating dog has surfaced online and gone viral — prompting reactions on Twitter over the unusual biological phenomenon.
Kittens display primary altriciality and are totally dependent on their mother for survival after they are born.
Cats and dogs are often classified as carnivores — animals that feed primarily on flesh for survival.
There are, however, arguments in some quarters that dogs are omnivores — animals that eat a variety of food of both plant and animal origin.
The pair are often traditionally seen as “enemies” by nature, with no love lost between them.
But in the less than one-minute footage, believed to have been taken in a remote Nigerian community, the kitten is seen sucking milk from the breast of the dog which appeared to be resting.

At the background, two people could be heard conversing about the chances of the kitten — whose mother appeared to have died — surviving.
The video, shared by Reuters, has started to elicit mixed reactions with many Twitter users sharing their views on it.
“This scene depicts the love and affection of dogs that are on the verge of extinction in the human race today,” a user wrote.
Another user wrote: “You mean this happened in Nigeria? A country full of evil leaders , this is wonderful. Our leaders are heartless unlike the animals. What a World we are.”
Below is what some people had to say:
I know that animals can show compassion among themselves–even of different kinds 🙂

Positive, loving, caring examples. We can all use those. Still, makes me think of the "Ghostbuster" line, "Dogs and cats, sleeping together…." Hey, that's an added smile. Winning.
