British-Ugandan model Eva Apio has denied speculation that she was ever in a romantic relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake.

The model has been linked to Asake in the past due to their public appearances together at various events.

The fresh rumours began on May 16 when an X user posted a photo of the pair in matching outfits during an outing in Paris, France, with the caption: “Asake and his girlfriend, Eva Apio”.

The post went viral, with many social media users expressing excitement over the supposed relationship.

However, on Sunday, Apio took to the microblogging platform to set the record straight.

Replying directly to the viral post, she wrote: “I was never his girlfriend”.

Born in Uganda on July 30, 2000, the UK-based model began her career when she was young, but quit when she was 13. She started up again at 16 and was signed with Zone Models.

The 24-year-old is the daughter of Eva Mbabazi, a former Miss Uganda.

Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake rose to fame in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL in February 2022.

The Afrobeats sensation was nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category. He, however, lost the category to colleague Tems.

Asake recently released the single ‘Military’ wherein he gave a shout-out to Olamide, acknowledging the key role the rapper played in his career.

He also expressed gratitude for Olamide’s support and guidance, which have helped shape him into the artiste he is today.

In February, he also delivered his first single ‘Why Love’ under his new label ‘Giran Republic’. This marks a new chapter in his career after parting ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by Olamide.
