In a lovely post on her social media page on Monday, Hadiza described the governor as a “good husband”.

She also noted that her marriage to him has been a blissful ride, while also pledging to love him forever.

“On this day (17 August) 35 years ago, the LOML and I married each other. It’s been quite a ride. Alhamdulillah. Happy anniversary @elrufai. You have been a good husband and I’ll love you forever,” she wrote on Twitter.

The lovebirds met in 1976 at the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Kaduna state, and tied the knot in 1985.

The union has so far been blessed with three children. The couple also run the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation (YELF) — set up in honour of the governor’s daughter who died in 2011.

In July, el-Rufai and his wife had shared a lovely photo of themselves back in 1984 while they were still courting.

A month earlier, the first lady had made it clear that she is not part of her husband’s government, stating that she always distanced herself from commenting on topical issues such as governance and politics.

According to Hadiza, her social media page is majorly for issues about language and humour.
