Efe Ejeba, the 2017 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winner, has shared his opinion on why ex-housemates who are musicians have struggled to enjoy mainstream success.

In an interview with HipTV, Efe argued that the people who watch the BBNaija reality show are “totally different” from those who listen to music.

The rapper also claimed that BBNaija viewers are only interested in relationships and drama, adding that they are “passive consumers of music”.

“The reality TV audience is almost totally different from the music audience,” he said.

“The reality TV audience are passive consumers of music. They enjoy lifestyle and drama while the active music consumers are totally different.

“When you go to reality TV, they just want to see you for your drama, fine clothes, and who you are dating. They have less interest in your music.”

Since winning the ‘Double Wahala’ edition in 2017, Efe has been noticeably absent from the limelight.

His music career did not start with as much buzz as the mainstream musicians.

The rapper would later address rumours that he squandered his BBNaija prize money on frivolities.

Several artistes have graced BBNaija since the show began in 2006.

Among the musicians are Laycon and White Money who won the show in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
