Eedris Abdulkareem, the Nigerian rapper, has taken to social media to appreciate well-wishers for their support since news of his battle with kidney failure became public.

On Wednesday, news filtered through that the ‘Jaga Jaga’ crooner had been diagnosed with kidney failure and is currently undergoing dialysis.

Fans and colleagues of the rapper flooded his social media pages with prayers and concerns.

MI Abaga, another rapper, had called on fans and well-wishers to fund the ailing musician’s surgery.

Reacting to the wave of love and well wishes, Abdulkareem, in a video on his Instagram account on Thursday, said he’s “in strong spirit”.

He also said he will emerge from the situation successfully.

The short video shows the rapper on a hospital bed with intravenous tubes plugged onto his body.

The ‘Mr Lecturer’ crooner said despite his condition, he is still making public appearances ahead of the surgery.

“Hello everyone my name is Eedris Abdulkareem, I want to thank you all for all your prayers and support. I just want you all to know that I am in strong spirit, I am going to come out of this successfully by the grace of Almighty Allah, the rapper said.

“Thank you for your love and support. I love you so much. Today I’m in my dialysis session. It takes about 3 to 4 hours then immediately after the dialysis session I go out for my daily activities. So I am strong in body, spirit and soul and I’m still doing my appearances. I want you to know that your prayers and support are appreciated. God bless you”

Abdulkareem is also expected to undergo a kidney transplant at the end of July.
