On June 28, Halima Adamu, the singer’s mother, was abducted at her residence in Kahutu village of Danja LGA in Katsina

Halima, however, regained freedom on Wednesday after nearly three weeks in captivity.

According to Daily Trust, the DSS operatives also killed one suspect during a gun duel and recovered N26.5 million in the process.

The news outlet quoted a source to have said that the Kano police command attacked a gang of five bandits in Makarfi bushes where they planned to split the ransom.

“One Hamisu Tukur, is currently in custody with gunshot injuries, while Bature was killed,” the source added.

About three weeks ago, some bandits were said to have silently raided Halima’s village. Residents never heard gunshots during the operation which “took only a few minutes”.

Halima was said to have gently followed the attackers when they struck at her home.

Some reports also claimed that the abductors specifically picked Rarara’s mother while leaving other residents behind.

Born in Katsina, Rarara gained widespread popularity after his performances during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rallies in Kano — before the 2023 general election.

In March 2023, his house in Kano was invaded by hoodlums and set ablaze.
