TxC, the South African disc jockey (DJ) duo, has released their vibrant cross-continental single titled ‘Nakupenda’.
The track, which translates to “I love you” in Swahili, unites a formidable roster of African talent, featuring South African artistes AI Xapo and Scotts Maphuma alongside Nigerian superstars Davido, Zlatan, and Shoday.
‘Nakupenda’ crafts an infectious, cross-cultural soundscape by blending playful rhythms and memorable hooks.
The Nigerian contingent layers the track with vibrant pidgin English verses, while the South African artistes weave in their native languages, resulting in a seamless and celebratory pan-African vibe.
“Martel don dey scatter my eye/ Fine fine girls don dey enter my eye/ Mini Skirt don dey enter my eye/ Big bunda don dey enter my eye/ Na one puff wey I drag I dey do me like I dey for trance,” Davido sings.
TxC, composed of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, rose to prominence after sharing their content on social media, eventually landing their first gig on October 28, 2019, in Johannesburg.
Beyond their music, the singers are fashion models, with Tarryn designing many of their performance outfits. The duo has showcased their talent on global stages, performing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Fan Festival in Qatar.
TXC’s success earned them the award for Best New International Act at the 2025 BET Awards. In 2024, they signed a recording contract with Love Renaissance (LVRN), a US-based label distributed through The Orchard (Sony Music).
