Teniola ‘Teni’ Apata, Nigerian songstress, has released her 17-track debut album titled ‘Wondaland’.
The project was put out in the early hours of Friday with Davido, an Afropop star, as the only featured artiste.
The 50-minute album comes just after Teni had released the visuals to ‘Prisoner’, her Davido-assisted track, in the body of work.
It also follows on the heels of her recently released EPs, the ‘Billionaire’ and ‘The Quarantine Playlist’.
Teni’s ‘Wondaland’ album is produced by Pheelz, Damayo, Tempoe, P.Prime, Millamix, Krizbeatz, and Ozedikus.
“The debut album showcases Teni’s talents for songwriting, and masterful ease with subgenres from afropop to emo-trap, and house to highlife. Performed in Yoruba, English and pidgin,” the editors’ notes read.
“Wondaland is a manifestation of Teni’s strength and confidence as entertainer-in-chief.”
Speaking with Apple Music about the album, the singer said: “I wanted to do an album that anyone from my mother’s hometown in Ondo, or my dad’s in Ekiti—even to Osaka, Japan—can pick up and be entertained, inspired and educated.
“You can’t record your debut album again, so I ensured Wondaland will be that album I would listen to in 20 years, and it would still sound just as fresh.”
Since her incursion into the music scene, Teni has continued to pull the weight of fame with her style of music.
The talented vocalist started to gain prominence after her single ‘Fargin’ was released in September 2017. She finally had her big break after putting out hit singles such as ‘Askamaya’, ‘Case’, and ‘Uyo Meyo’ in 2018.
