Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has come through with a new single titled ‘Under The Canopy’.

The song was released across all streaming platforms on Friday.

In the intro, the ‘Holy Father’ hitmaker adopts the voice recordings of Nickie Dabarbie, the TikToker who accused him of money rituals.

Mayorkun also addresses the allegation in the song while asking for God’s protection from people who want to tarnish his image.

“Under the canopy/ Baba cover me/ E ma bother me/ Mi o de le gora mi/ E ma tan ara yin/ What did you say I offered you/ Coffee or na tea/ Abi won ti koba mi,” he sings.

In April, Nickie, born Precious Kingsley, alleged that “Mayorkun and some other Nigerian artistes are all ritualists”.

In a series of posts via her Instagram page, she claimed that she had “escaped from being used for rituals” by Skiibii.

She alleged that the singer invited her to his house for a boat cruise and “forced” her to take “alcohol before trying to kill me”.

But in a letter from his legal representative, Mayorkun described Nickie’s allegations as “baseless, bizarre and untrue”.

The singer requested that she pay N1 billion as “damages for emotional trauma, loss of endorsement”.

He also demanded that the TikToker issue a retraction and public apology on social media and two national dailies within 24 hours.
