The ‘Adenuga’ hitmaker announced the song’s release via social media on Friday.

‘SMH’, produced by Tempoe, sees Joeboy sampling ‘Neela Nilave’ (a Tamil song from the album ‘Mandhera Vasal’).

In the track, Joeboy croons about a mystery lover whose actions do not match her words, leaving him feeling played.

“Girlie o/ There is something missing here/ Wetin you dey do/ Omo e no too clear/ Your attitude shows that you don’t care/ But you tell me all the things Wey me I wan hear/ You dey use me play/ Bow I got another bae now you wannna come back to me/ Abeg make you leave I no wan story/ I no want story,” the lyrics reads.

Speaking about ‘SMH’, Joeboy said the song captures the clarity that comes with realising some relationships are meant to be temporary, serving as lessons rather than lasting forever.

“There’s a certain clarity of mind that hits you when you finally understand that not all relationships are supposed to last forever,” he said.

“Some are better as phases with lessons to learn. Simple as. Whatever seems to be missing no matter how hard you try is missing for a reason.”

Born Joseph Akinwale, Joeboy gained popularity under emPawa Africa, a record label owned by Mr Eazi.

The singer has won several awards and recognition for his craft.

In 2019, he won the ‘Best Artiste in African Pop’ prize at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
