Fireboy DML, the fast-rising Afrolife star, has been enlisted in the latest remix of Madonna’s 1998 hit ‘Frozen.’
The highly anticipated remake of the legendary song was released on Thursday.
Fans across the globe had been anticipating the release of the song after the 63-year-old “Queen of Pop” shared photos she took with Fireboy at the set of the music video.
The little over the two-minute song is a continuation of Madonna’s journey at reimagining the classic hit after over 20 years since the first release.
In 2021, Sidekick’s dramatic overhauling of the song went viral across TikTok and Instagram as users couldn’t get enough of the chant-like “Mmm-hmm” while blending the sound into uploaded reels.
Madonna spotted an opportunity and officially relaunched the song in December 2021 and the reworked version has amassed more than 49 million streams globally.
Riding on the momentum, the pop icon enlisted Fireboy for the second remix of the song and the YBNL boy-wonder channelled all top echelon of his musical prowess and repaid the trust.
While the core of the song remains anchored on Madonna’s ethereal hooks, Fireboy was afforded the most time to shine as he sang his soul out and talks about heartbreak over Sickick’s mesmerising trap beats.
“Wahala go dey to ba lo. Plenty wahala go dey to ba lo. You dey make me dey wait for your love. Go on my know knees and pray to the lord,” Fireboy sings.
