Among the artistes featured in the album are Zlatan Ibile, Damian Marley, Jorja Smith, Manifest, Serani and Jeremih.

With the album’s lead track and title inspired by the Afrofusion singer’s outburst after his name was printed in small fonts on the Coachella Festival lineup, Burna Boy’s release spans Dancehall and Afrobeat.

In April, the award-winning singer had announced the album release during a Los Angeles preview party. According to him, the project promises to take Nigerians back to their roots.

“Saying ‘African Giant’ goes to a lot more than music. It’s a symbol of strength. That’s what I want my people to feel like, to realize that they are,” he said during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.

“When it’s time for music to be made, it’s almost like my ancestors just come into me and then it’s them. Music is supposed to be a universal language. You understanding what I’m saying is secondary.

“The primary thing is what does the person inside of you hear? What does your spirit hear? That’s the job of music, that’s what it’s supposed to do.”

Burna Boy, who had had his big break in 2018, has taken impressive career strides over the past few months.

The Afro-fusion star bagged an award for the category ‘Best International Act’ at the 2019 BET Awards in June.

This came after he had clinched an award as the ‘African Artiste of the Year’ at the 2019 VGM Awards and delivered a much-acclaimed performance alongside Mr Eazi at the Coachella Festival of Arts.
