Ayola, the fast-rising Canadian-Nigerian singer, has come through with his sophomore album titled ‘The Life I Want’.
The seven-track project was released on Friday across all streaming platforms.
Songs on the body of work include ‘Pass Me By,’ ‘Life I Want,’ ‘I Hope To Be Free,’ ‘Actor n Boss,’ ‘Pum Pum’ and ‘Uhhhhhh’.
Born Abdullah Abubakre, the singer hails from Osun state but was raised in Ilorin, Kwara state. He grew up with King Sunny Ade as a major influence on his career.
The singer describes his style of music as Nigerian folk and gives a blend of several genres such as Highlife, Jazz, Soul, Afro-funk, R&B, and Motown.
In 2020, the artiste put out ‘Scum’, his first cinematic extended play (EP). He would follow up with the release of another song ‘Kudi’ in November of that same year.
Ayola also came through with ‘Conversations Till Dawn (CtillD)’, his first studio album, in 2021.
The artiste studied Biochemistry at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria and holds a master’s degree in Pharmaceutics from University College London.
In 2023, the singer launched an online networking platform to connect Afrobeats artistes and stakeholders worldwide.
