Asake, the Afrobeats singer, has come through with the remix of his hit song titled ‘Lonely At The Top’.
The remix was released on all streaming platforms on Wednesday.
‘Lonely At The Top’ is a track off the album ‘Work of Art’, which was released in June.
In the remix, Asake employs the lyrical expertise of of H.E.R., the Grammy-winning American singer.
In the song, the music stars showcase their ability to complement each other’s talents and blend their styles.
“It’s lonely at the top/ Lonely, lonely, lonely/ Money on my mind/ Money, money, money/ Don’t care what they yarning about me in particular/ Ko kan mi, kan mi, kan mi/ Out here on the road chasing my dream because I know/ No one can chase it for me,” Asake croons.
On her part, H.E.R. sings: “I can’t waste my time, for no one I came in this life on my own/ Baby, you worry ’bout you while I face my matter/ I can’t rely on you, too much money and too much pride/ Still can’t buy no peace of mind/ Just count the blessings, I Baby, I’ve been way too focused to be stressed/ Don’t care if I’m lonely, if I want it I’m obsessed”.
Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, gained prominence in 2020 after he put out ‘Lady’, his hit song.
He joined YBNL record label in February 2022.
In April, Asake revealed that he sings mostly in Yoruba because music transcends language barriers.
H.E.R., on the other hand, is an American R&B singer and songwriter. She has received an Academy Award, a Children’s and Family Emmy Award, and five Grammy Awards.
