The ‘Jailer’ crooner announced the release of her first single of the year on social media on Friday.

The song comes just months before the singer’s planned Lagos concert on May 8.

The over three minutes track was also produced by P.Prime and co-written by WurlD.

‘Ocean’ is a mid-tempo song which earned its powerful breath from Asa’s luscious voice and catchy lyrics and WurlD’s brilliant ad-libs in the background.

“I know you’re too cool for this I know/ you’re too big for this/ Tell me where you wanna be / I know where you wanna be/ Hope it’s not too good you / I hope i’m not too much for you,” Asa sings.

The track is the singer’s second in three months after she dropped ‘Mayana’ in December 2021.

The 39-year-old singer, whose real name is Bukola Elemide, released ‘Eyé Adaba’, her first single, in 2006.

She thereafter signed to Naive Records, a Paris-based independent record label. Asa soon partnered with Cobhams Asuquo, Nigerian singer and record producer, who she had met through Janet Nwose, her manager.

After ‘Asa,’ her debut album, went platinum in 2008, she was voted the best fresh talent of 10 singers or groups by a jury of 19 music-industry specialists in Paris.
