Badara Akon Thiam, African-American record producer better known as Akon, has released his much-awaited album ‘Akonda’.

The body of work, which was put out on Friday, as his fifth studio album via his own Akonik Label Group, features Olamide, Kizz Daniel and Skales, three renowned Afrobeats singers.

The Afrobeats-influenced ten-track release project would be coming on the heels of ‘El Negreeto’, his Latin American-influenced fourth studio album, which came through in October.

The show business mogul had previously released ‘Low Key’, the album’s lead track — with the official video set for a global YouTube premiere towards the end of 2019.

While there are also reports of the release of ‘The Konnect’, Akon’s LP spanning hip-hop and R&B, the award-winning 46-year-old singer is undoubtedly out to make the headlines for putting out three albums in less than three months.

Akon is among the globally acclaimed artistes who appear to be reconnecting with their African roots, having recently announced his move to Senegal after many years of living in the United States.

Aside from his recent collaboration with Nigerian artistes and his establishment of a record label dedicated to Afrobeats, the singer recently claimed to have once signed Davido, P-Square and Wizkid to his label — although he didn’t initiate a contract to that effect.

“I never left music alone, cause, when I was in Africa, I was building the Afrobeats scene. when I first went out there in 2008, I signed Wizkid and I was doing lots of consulting for lots of artistes. I singed Davido, Psquare. Davido was like my little brother,” he had said.
