‘Coco Money,’ released across streaming platforms on Friday, is a brash, no-nonsense celebration of hustle, financial discipline, and reaping the rewards of hard work.

Produced by Niphkeys, the track blends Afrobeats swagger with sharp social commentary, as Adekunle calls out misplaced priorities with slick punchlines: “Misplaced priorities, uh-uh / Can’t be broke, can’t be lazy”.

‘Coco Money’ is also a luxurious flex, with Adekunle reveling in his success: “My money be like coco money /
B**ch better have my money”.

Gold rose to the limelight after the release of his track ‘Sade’, a highlife cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’ in 2015.

He signed to YBNL that same year and released his debut album, ‘Gold’. He later exited the record label after his contract had expired.

The 38-year-old has released five albums, including ‘Gold’ (2016), ‘About 30’ (2018), ‘Afropop’ (2020), ‘Catch Me If You Can’ (2022), and ‘Tequila Ever After‘ (2023).

Gold has been vocal about his sickle cell journey, most notably through his 2022 single ‘5 Star’.

In July 2024, the singer emphasised his commitment to advocacy, stating his mission is to help others with the condition “feel safe and supported”.
