AQ and Brymo have joined forces to put out a 10-track album titled ‘Ethos’.
The project was released across streaming platforms on Friday.
Built around notions of love, growth, and loss, ‘Ethos’ sees the rapper A-Q and singer Brymo join forces for sobering reflections on life.
Fusing rap verses with alternative sounds that draw from the folksy, traditional and soulful, they embellish this offering with personal tales crafted upon alluring instrumentation.
The project also dwells on storytelling, ranging from the confessional (‘Family First’), longing (‘Do You Ever Miss Me’), socio-political (‘Baale House’), and cautionary (‘Ni Temi’).
It further explores themes such as mental health, substance dependence, and grief.
A-Q signed his first record deal in 2001 with Big Leaf Records and was with the label for two years before he started working on his own in 2003.
His first single ‘(W)rap Nigeria’ debuted in 2004 followed by a music video.
He subsequently released a compilation album ‘Listen and Understand’ in 2005.
A-Q took a break from music to finish his education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
He graduated in 2010 and returned to the entertainment industry, this time co-floating a record label, Hustle Inc.
Brymo released his debut studio album ‘Brymston’ in 2007. He currently has 11 albums to his name alongside two extended plays (EPs).
