DMX, American rapper, has been hospitalised after suffering a drug overdose and a heart attack.
According to TMZ, sources close to the singer said he broke down on Friday night, and the prognosis isn’t good.
He was reportedly rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York after the overdose triggered a heart attack.
It is understood that the 50-year-old is in the critical care unit.
TMZ quoted one source as saying the singer is showing “some brain activity”, while another said he is in a “vegetative state” and doctors fear he may not make it.
DMX has spoken openly about his crack cocaine addiction which began at age 14 after he smoked a marijuana cigarette laced with the drug. The rapper, who has severally undergone rehab, also claimed he was battling bipolar disorder.
In February 2016, DMX was found unresponsive in a Ramada Inn parking lot in Yonkers. He was resuscitated by first responders and given Narcan before being rushed to the hospital.
A witness said he ingested some substance before collapsing, but police found no illegal substances on the property.
DMX’s last rehab stint was in 2019 after he completed a 12-month sentence for tax evasion.
