Deyemi Okanlawon, the Nollywood actor, says anyone who is getting salary or allowances from him must vote for his candidate in the forthcoming election.
Deyemi spoke about politics and a variety of topics during the latest episode of ‘Mercy’s Menu,‘ a cooking show by Mercy Johnson, the actress.
During the interview, the actor disclosed that gone are the days when people are allowed to vote who they want, adding that it has yielded “little or no results”.
“Everybody that I pay their salary and give allowances will vote exactly the way I’m voting,” he said.
“As long as I give you money, you will vote my choice.
“The truth of the matter is Nigeria needs to change. We allowed people to vote who they want to vote in the past and we have seen where it got us.”
Unlike some of his colleagues in the movie industry, Deyemi is yet to publicly endorse any presidential candidate ahead of next month’s election.
When asked to give his opinion on infidelity, the movie star said cheating is not a deal breaker for him as long as his partner is remorseful.
“It’s never really about what is done, it’s about how you try to make amends or either rectify what has been done,” he added.
On domestic violence, Okanlawon said regardless of the status of the person who commits the crime, “justice should be done every single time there’s violence. That person should face the consequences of their actions.”
