Odumodublvck, the rapper, says Declan Rice, the UK footballer, wants to visit Nigeria and perform on stage with him.
Last month, the singer released a hit track titled ‘Declan Rice’ in honour of the English footballer.
In a recent interview on Afrobeats Podcast, Odumodublvck said he and Declan Rice are now friends.
He also said West Ham United, the footballer’s club, also invited him to “meet with other players and watch a match.”
“I made a video vibing to the song. I posted it and Declan Rice was like jeez the song is fire. Now we’re friends,” he said.
“He [Declan Rice] is texting me that he has to come to Nigeria even if it’s only for two days. He said the next time I’m performing he has to be on stage with me.
“I’m like this has to be God. I cannot take credit for any of this, it was all God. So that was how I linked up with Declan.
“One day at 3 am in the morning he sent me a video also vibing to the song. The kind of video you send to people on Instagram that can only be played once.
“I screen-recorded the video and posted it in the morning. Right now the video has so many views. It just makes the song have a more cultural impact because now the player himself has been associated with it.
“The club [West Ham United] also messaged me that they need me to come over to the club. They said I should come to the training ground to meet all the players, I should come to the stadium to watch a match. I just thank God. Gratitude.”
Born Tochukwu Ojogwu, Odumodublvck is known for his stage performance and genre-blend.
In 2022, he signed a record deal with NATIVE Records, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.
In the same year, he released his first single under the NATIVE, titled ‘Picanto’ featuring ECko Miles, and Zlatan.
