“At the time, ‘The Entertainer’ was the best representation of me. I always told people that I was not a musician. I’m an entertainer. Listening to that album, you’ll see it’s everything I stand for,” the statement reads.

“Fast forward to now, especially as I am celebrating the 20th anniversary, I thought to just go back and pick up what I am best known for and present it to the world. It’s like an updated iOS. ‘The Entertainer: D’Sequel’ is me presenting that updated iOS.”

The sequel features a star-studded lineup of collaborations, including artistes like Awilo Longomba, Wyclef Jean, Akon, Phyno, Timaya, Kayswitch, and Youssou N’Dour.

On the collaborations, D’Banj revealed that some of these artistes inspired him when he was just starting music.

He hailed Wyclef Jean as a “mentor and supporter of the culture” who has continuously collaborated with African artistes throughout the years.

In July, D’Banj released ‘Worthy’, the tenth track from the album, featuring Grammy award-winning Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour and Chechi Sarai.

This followed the earlier releases of ‘Since O4‘ and ‘Koko‘, which also feature in the sequel.
