Dayo Amusa, the Nollywood actress, has revealed why she withdrew the case against the content creator who falsely claimed she was living with HIV.
The controversy began in July when Olaoluwa Segun shared a video falsely naming Amusa and several other actors as HIV positive.
However, Amusa clarified that she had only participated in an HIV awareness video for educational purposes in 2019.
She condemned his actions and vowed to make him a “scapegoat” to deter others from spreading similar misinformation.
In a video via Instagram, Amusa revealed that although she kept her word of making Segun a “scapegoat” for spreading false information about her, she later chose to withdraw the case after learning he had recently lost his mother.
The actress said she also realised he is still quite young and that some of his relatives, including his uncle who is a lawyer, pleaded on his behalf.
“Regarding the pending issue between myself and the content creator who defamed my character by spreading false information about my HIV status, I promised to make him a scapegoat and I did,” she said.
“However, along the line, I got to know he had just lost his mother and that he is only a 27-year-old boy.
“I also met some of his relatives, including his uncle who is a lawyer, and they pleaded on his behalf.”
Segun earlier revealed that he was detained at Panti, Yaba, for two days, describing it as the “worst experience of my life”.
