The singer’s father said he made the donation to the church’s centenary endowment fund in honour of Esther Adeleke, his mother.

“On behalf of our late mother, senior mother in Israel, late Mrs. Esther Adeleke, we want to contribute to the centenary endowment fund, the sum of N1 billion,” he said in the now-viral video.

Esther Adeleke was the senior mother-in-Israel at the church before she passed on.

The position is currently held by Module Adeleke Sanni, the Osun governor’s sister.

Ademola Adeleke, Osun governor, was also present at the service where he appreciated God for helping him attain the position.

Dignitaries including Davido, Lagos governor Babajide Sanwoolu, and Ogun governor Dapo Abiodun also graced the thanksgiving service.

Davido’s father is quite known for his philanthropic spirit.

During COVID-19, Adeleke donated N500m to the federal government to support the country’s fight against the outbreak.

Davido also recently revealed his stage name was given to him by his father.

“Like I told you, I am the first generation entertainer. I don’t think he did not want me to do music, he just wanted me to be successful,” he said.

“So when I moved back to Nigeria, he did not know. Then he heard my voice on the radio, shouting Davido and he gave me that name. My dad gave me Davido. He just wanted me to go to school which I eventually did.”
