Chiamaka Okeke, a fan of music star Davido, on Thursday threatened to commit suicide if he fails to follow her on Instagram on or before her birthday.
Okeke also said the singer must attend her birthday, else she would end her life.
Although her birthday is not until August 13, Davido gave her an early birthday present and possibly averted a potential suicide by following her.
Okeke had made the announcement in two video posts on her Instagram page.
“What have I not done for you? I have been following you, I follow you on Instagram and Twitter, I even created a fan page for you, I have been asking you for a follow back since 2014,” she pleaded.
“Davido, 13th August is my birthday, if I don’t get to meet you on or before then, I will commit suicide. Yes I will just kill myself, it is worth it.”
Subsequently, the singer reached out to Okeke to inform her that he had done the needful.
He sent her a direct message, saying, “I don follow you. No go die”.
Many commenters saw Okeke’s action as a desperate stunt to get the attention of the singer while some praised Davido for reacting promptly, considering the rising spate of suicides in the country.
