Davido, the Afrobeats singer, has revealed that his first performance in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, was a clandestine act that involved skipping classes at Babcock University.
The revelation comes on the heels of his historic ‘5ive’ album tour stop at Ibadan’s Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, which drew a massive crowd of 25,000 fans.
Following the groundbreaking show, Davido corrected assumptions that this was his debut in the city, sharing the story of his first Ibadan performance in 2011.
In a post on X, the ‘Timeless’ hitmaker recounted how his team, including his cousin B Red, manager Asa Asika, and others, picked him up from university to drive to the “Lynxxx and Friends Tour”.
He then contrasted that memory with his recent triumph, stating, “14 years later, we destroyed the stadium”.
“In 2011, I skipped school to perform in Ibadan. Asa, Peju, B Red and Sina picked me up from Babcock and we drove to join the Lynxxx and Friends Tour,” he wrote.

“The 5ive Alive run across Nigeria has been one for the books. To my peers let’s build back home and give back to our roots.”
Davido announced his next destination: a birthday concert in Atlanta on November 20.
“Big love to all our sponsors for backing this historic tour. Abuja and Lagos up next, but next stop is ATL for my birthday, State Farm Arena on November 20th!” he added.
