Tobi Owomoyela, the Ibadan-based comedian better known as Peteru, has passed away.
Muyiwa Ademola, the Nollywood actor, broke the news in a touching Instagram post on Thursday.
It is understood that the skit maker died on Wednesday. Ademola also said he learnt that Peteru died of cancer.
“This is a very hard pill to swallow! How could this jolly good fellow just depart this world in this manner? Hmmm… it is well,” he wrote.
“Please be kind to one another as we don’t even know what we are individually passing through! I learnt Peteru died of cancer.
“You were battling such burden yet I never saw you without a smile! It is well. It is well. It is well. Journey well great guy. I am out of words tonight.”
The death of the skit maker comes a few weeks after he buried his father.
In September, Peteru had announced that his father died on August 9, 2022.
His dad’s funeral was held between November 10 and 11 in Ibadan, Oyo state.
“Please, save the date. As you are already aware, my dear father went to be with the Lord on Tuesday 9th August and we have concluded all plans to give him a befitting burial,” he had written at the time.
“As my friend and family please clear your calendar for the 10th & 11th of November to honour me and my family in Ibadan by joining me to pay the last respect to our ‘amazing Mike’ I look forward to seeing you. God bless us all.”
