Moses Olaiya Adejumo, a veteran comic actor better known as Baba Sala, has died.
The iconic dramatist died on Sunday at his house in Ilesa, Osun state.
According to Tribune, Baba Sala’s death was made known by Isaac Haastrup, his media aide.
PUNCH quoted Haastrup as saying Sala died of “old-age related sickness”.
“He came to church two Sundays ago and he was the one that said the benediction. Baba has gone to be with the Lord and he will be missed by many people including his fans,” he said.
The comedian’s remains have been deposited at the morgue in Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.
Baba Sala, 82, recently solicited financial assistance from the public after suffering a reported stroke.
In the past few months, the comedy great has been rumoured dead a number of times.
Emmanuel Adejumo, the son of late veteran comedian, said: “My dad was strong till he died. He died of old age and nothing was wrong with him health wise.
“My dad is well known in the movie industry and I urge actors to learn from his achievements in the industry as a comedian.
“Actors should also be careful of piracy because it is an evil menace that is stunting the growth of the industry.
Adejumo said Baba Sala died in his house at Ilesha, Osun on Sunday night after having his supper.
“My dad passed on out of old age and not sickness. He was a very active person, someone who loved his job so much and knew what he wanted.
“He has finally gone to rest with the Lord and I pray that he should rest in peace,” he said.
