Chris Martin, British record producer and lead singer of the rock band Coldplay, has reportedly split with Dakota Johnson, his wife, after months of arguing on childbearing.

According to Sunday Express, the 42-year-old hitmaker called it quits after the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ actress, 29, expressed her unreadiness to have children.

“Chris made it clear he wants more kids as soon as possible but Dakota’s career has really taken off and that’s the last thing she wanted to think about right away,” a source was quoted to have said.

“It got to the point, last month, where light seemed to flick on in both their heads and they realized they were pulling in completely opposite directions. So they decided to call it a day.”

Chris, who already has two children with Gwyneth Paltrow, his ex-wife, had earlier this year lavished £4.5million on a beach house in Malibu, California, hoping to settle in with with the actress and start a new family.

However, “Dakota told him she’s nowhere near ready for that” and “made it crystal-clear” to Martin that her career comes first “for several more years at least” before babymaking.

“Both Dakota and Chris are broken-hearted that things didn’t work out because they made a fantastic couple. It’s such a shame because they really did look as though they were deeply in love with each other and were openly affectionate in public,” the source added.

Dakota Johnson, who made her acting debut in 1999 with ‘Crazy in Alabama’, American comedy-drama film, has featured in several movies including ‘Need for Speed’, ‘How to Be Single’, and ‘Fifty Shades Darker’.

Chris Martin and his ex-wife had parted ways after “distance and busy schedules” coupled with Paltrow’s ailing mental health after the birth of their two children reportedly caused a rift between the duo.
