Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a Nigerian novelist, would be ending her annual creative writing workshop in a “literary evening” to hold in Awka, Anambra state.

This was disclosed in a press statement obtained by TheCable Lifestyle on Friday, ahead of the official presentation of ‘dispossessed’, the long-awaited book of poetry, by James Eze, an award-winning Nigerian poet.

While Eze’s book presentation is billed to hold at the Oma Event Center, Awka, on Saturday, Adichie is expected to treat the people of Anambra state to her literary evening at the Golden Tulip hotel, in Agulu.

“Saturday, December 14, 2019 will go down in history as the day Anambra State finally begins the process of assuming its role as an important location in Africa’s literary history in recent times,” the organizers said.

“The public presentation of the book ‘dispossessed’ by the poet, James Eze and a Literary Evening being organized to bring the first International Creative Writing Workshop organized by Chimamanda Adichie to a glorious end.

“Eze’s book presentation will take place at the Oma Event Center, Awka while Adichie will treat the creme of Anambra society to a special evening of literature at the prestigious Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Hotel, Agulu.”

“The two events have been synchronized to feed each other with the presentation of ‘dispossessed’ kicking off the flow at twelve noon to be followed by Adichie’s literary evening hours later.”

Literature lovers, university dons, creative writers, and other stakeholders are expected to converge for what is described as “Anambra’s Day of Literary Renaissance.”

Adichie has earned herself prestigious awards and heated accolades through her works ‘Purple Hibiscus’, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, and ‘The Thing Around Your Neck’, all of which are available in several languages.

Nduka Otiono, a Canada-based Nigerian professor and writer, would also be offering “bio-critical reflections” during the presentation of Eze’s much-awaited book.
