Celine Dion, the Canadian singer, has cancelled the second leg of her North American tour for ‘Courage’, her hit album, over health issues.
The award-winning singer broke the news in a statement shared via her social media pages on Saturday.
In 2019, Dion had released the project, which was her 12th English-language album. She thereafter commenced a world tour for the album and completed the first leg of the tour before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
The second leg of the tour was originally billed to take place last year but was rescheduled to hold between March 9 and April 22, 2022.
According to the statement, the singer was recently treated for “severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing.”
I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing. /J’espérais vraiment être prête à remonter sur scène maintenant, mais je constate que je dois être plus patiente. – Céline xx… pic.twitter.com/zNnDMBo1JR

It said “her recovery is taking longer than she hoped,” adding that “her medical team continues to evaluate and treat the condition.”
“Tickets purchased with a credit card through authorised ticketing outlets will be refunded automatically to the credit card used for purchase,” it read.
“Ticket holders of the cancelled performances will soon receive an email notification with more information.”
Speaking on her health, the 53-year-old singer said she cannot wait to be back on stage again.
“I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing,” Dion said.
“There’s a lot of organising and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road.
“I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again.”
The singer thanked fans who have shown support as she continues her recovery.
“Meanwhile, I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love ands and it means the world to me,” she added.
