Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5 after she was sentenced to six months on April 12 for abusing the naira.

The crossdresser recently shared a list of celebrities who sent her money since she regained freedom.

In a series of Instagram posts, the internet personality appreciated them for the gesture. The celebrities involved in the almost N100 million donation include Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Victor Osimehen, Funke Akindele, Tonto Dikeh, and Niniola among others.

The development has, however, provoked a wave of backlash on social media, particularly X, where some Nigerians questioned the motive behind the donation.

A segment of users also tackled the celebrities involved, arguing that they were “promoting Bobrisky’s lifestyle as a trangsender”.

In an Instagram video, VeryDarkMan, the controversial activist, also intensified the criticism, adding that he has “lost respect for everybody on the list”.

“The first news I saw was that plenty people contributed money for Bobrisky. I saw the amount is almost N100m and I asked what are you people trying to do?” he asked.

“Are you trying to encourage crime, gayism, transgender in Nigeria? What is the benefit of giving Bobrisky that money?

“Are you telling the youth to commit a particular crime and you will always support them? What is the positive impact of giving Bobrisky that money?

“There are a lots of communities in Nigeria that doesn’t have water. A lots of schools doesn’t have chairs. I have never seen you donate money to them.

“But you are giving a man who is deceiving the youth, a bad example money. I lost a lot of respect for everybody on the list.”
