Adaugo Kanu, celebrity hairstylist, has created virtual styling salons for brides who cannot get physical styling on their wedding days.
The service which is the first of its kind in Nigeria uses video calling applications to guides brides through the styling process regardless of their location.
Speaking NAN on Wednesday, Kanu said she saw the need to assist brides who have distance constraints and cannot get a stylist to travel down.
She added that since the world is in the digital age, the need arose to solve practical styling problems, such as distance and convenience, with technology.
The innovation, tagged ‘The DugyKay Hair Do It Yourself (DIY) Hairstyling Service’, also seeks to empower brides with basic styling skills as they learn to style themselves for their weddings.
“The DugyKay Hair DIY Hairstyling Service was established out of the drive to maximise modern technology and social media in styling,” Kanu said.
“I was looking for a creative and innovative way to utilise Whatsapp, FaceTime and Skype apart from the everyday use.
“The service involves styling ladies irrespective of their locations as we go through the various styling stages with them.”
Kanu added that the service is not limited to hair styling but cuts across accessories, outfits, makeup and shoes.
However, she stated that a lot of attention is paid on the hair styling especially as a ‘Hairstyling Guide’ is sent to the women to enable them to create and achieve their desired hairstyle.
Kanu, an engineer turned stylist, told NAN that she looks forward to inspiring, enhancing and restoring courage to as many women as possible through her craft.
