As many mourn the passing of Aretha Franklin, a revered music icon, tributes have been pouring in from celebrities, politicians and entertainers.
The queen of soul music died on Thursday, at her home in Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 76.
“Aretha helped define the American experience,” former US president Barack Obama said.
“In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect.
“May the Queen of Soul rest in eternal peace.”
Donald Trump, US president, described the ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ singer as “a wonderful gift from God”.
Here are some Twitter reactions.
