Cassie Ventura, the ex-girlfriend of Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, took the stand on Tuesday as the prosecution’s star witness in the rapper’s high-profile “sex trafficking” trial.
The opening statements of the trial began on May 12 with Diddy pleading not guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation for prostitution.
Ventura, 38, detailed her tumultuous 11-year relationship with Combs, which began when she was a 19-year-old aspiring singer signed to his record label.
She described falling in love with him despite their age gap, but alleged he soon became “very controlling,” dictating her appearance, career, and personal life.
Ventura testified that Combs grew violent, claiming he would “bash my head, knock me over, drag me, and kick me,” leaving her with injuries including swollen lips, black eyes, and head wounds.
She also recounted being pressured into sexual acts with male escorts at Combs’ direction, which she called “humiliating”.
“Control was everything, from the way that I looked… to what I was working on,” she told the jury.
She also addressed the supposed “freak offs” parties, claiming that the rapper introduced her to sexual events in the first year of their relationship.
Cassie alleged that they would hire a male escort to have sex with her while Diddy watched, despite it being a humiliating experience for her.
She added that she never wanted to have sex with anyone but the rapper, and she only did it to make him “happy,” and it sometimes lasted three to four days.
The singer also said she used to take myriad drugs like marijuana, ecstasy, and ketamine to help her perform to his satisfaction.
“I felt pretty horrible about myself. It made me feel worthless,” she said.
She also alleged that Diddy directed the sexual encounters, flew in male escorts and strippers, and paid them between $1,500 and $6,000 in cash, depending on their performance.
She claimed that they found the escorts through stripper companies and sites like Craigslist, and sometimes Diddy would direct her to ask staff to pay for and arrange their travel, calling them “new employees”.
Cassie said the parties were held in different cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, and Ibiza, Spain.
She also disclosed that she tried to tell the rapper how she felt, but he would immediately dismiss her concerns.
Cassie’s testimony is expected to continue on Wednesday. She will be cross-examined by Diddy’s lawyers.
Last week, the rapper’s lawyers revealed their intentions to argue that Cassie engaged in mutual violence during their relationship.
On Monday, the prosecutors claimed the rapper once forced a male escort to urinate in Cassie’s mouth.
