Caroline Hutchings, the Nollywood actress, has finally addressed her divorce from Musa Danjuma, the billionaire businessman.

The film star tied the knot with Musa, who is younger brother to Theophilus Danjuma, former defence minister, in 2004.

They had three children — two boys and a girl — together before the marriage crashed in 2014 over alleged infidelity.

Caroline, born to a Scottish father and a Nigerian mother, had kept mum since their controversial split.

But in an Instagram post on Thursday, the film star opened up on events that led to the collapse of their marriage.

The mother of three said she initially blamed herself “for not making a perfect marriage”, adding that the divorce made her feel like a failure.

Caroline said she also endured hurtful words and was mocked by friends as well as strangers who had no idea of what happened.

“I blamed myself for not making a perfect marriage, I blamed myself for both faults of ours until I started healing then I knew I was not a failure. I prayed to God for assistance most importantly to forgive myself and him. Rather than hate the outcome of what was, I chose love and peace of mind for what is,” she wrote.

“We both ain’t perfect and that is what makes us human. I dealt with the hurtful words from friends and strangers, the stigma and constant mockery without their knowledge of what truly happened… Some of us are better off as friends than lovers.”

The actress said she has found her “lost identity” since the divorce and put the issue behind her.

She also encouraged others battling similar experiences not to condemn themselves but seek help where necessary.

“God whispered, I am with you and that was it. My journey to finding me began and I never looked back. I came, I saw, I conquered, most importantly I have found my lost identity. Healed, restored, unprovoked, loving and blessed,” she added.

“This is my first time talking about my divorce, not an easy journey, most times very painful moments especially if you are a perfectionist and kids are involved.

“Kill the hate it will only ruin you. If you are wondering how you will pick up financially trust me you will, just stay focused and determined. Love without regrets.”
