Busiswe Lurayi, the South African actress who is popular for her role in ‘How To Ruin Christmas,’ the comedy television show on Netflix, has passed away.

Lurayi’s demise was announced in a statement released by Eye Media Artists Agency, her management.

The statement quoted her family as saying that she died on Sunday — although the exact cause of her death remains unknown.

“We are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi. Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday 10.07.2022 by medical personnel,” the statement read.

“The reason for her death is still unknown as we wait for the results of the autopsy report. We humbly request that you allow as the family come to terms with this tragic news.

“We thank you for the support that has been given so far and will provide further information as soon as it has been made available.”

Since the news of Lurayi’s death, tributes have been pouring in on social media platforms.

In a tribute to the actress, Netflix SA, the South African branch of the streaming platform, in an Instagram post, described her as an “incredible light”.

“An incredible light has gone out in the South African entertainment industry. We are deeply saddened by the passing of award winning Busiswe Lurayi,” it read.

“We will hold onto the laughs, the beauty and the moments of joy she brought us. #RIPBusiLaruyi #HowToRuinChristmas.”

Busiswe was aged 35 at the time of her death.
