Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning singer, has revealed why he avoids online giveaways.
In a live session on Instagram, Burna Boy said his charitable efforts focus on helping those in dire need, who often lack access to social media.
“Me I no dey follow una do Instagram giveaway o,” he said.
“I do giveaway to places that it really matters, to people that really need it and most of them are not on the internet, some of them no even know wetin be Instagram.”
Burna Boy started to attract attention in 2013 after releasing ‘Like to Party,’ the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E.’
With a string of awards and accolades, the singer has solidified his status as one of the leading artistes out of Africa.
He is credited alongside Wizkid and Davido for popularising Afrobeats.
In 2021, Burna Boy set a record in Nigeria after his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards.
In January, the singer received nominations for the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
The singer also secured four nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards — but lost in all categories
In February, Boston city in Massachusetts declared March 2 as ‘Burna Boy’s Day’.
