Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning singer, has reacted to Shatta Wale’s rants on Nigerian artistes.
Shatta earlier dissed Nigerian artistes whom he said failed to reciprocate the support they got from Ghana.
The dancehall singer had, during his sold-out concert, said he didn’t need Nigerians to hit big in the music industry.
His rants triggered a wave of condemnatory remarks from Nigerians who dismissed his claims as a hate campaign.
In what became his first public comment on the controversy, Burna questioned the motivation for Shatta’s claims.
“Plenty talk, na lie full inside. If you never helped anyone that you couldn’t gain from. If you can’t name one person that came from under you and didn’t become your enemy. You can’t cry for help and feel entitled to it,” he wrote.
“2022, I pray we not only grow older and fatter. I pray we grow stronger and wiser. May none of us be fools at 40.
“Dem dey play South African, American, and UK music for GH. But na Nigeria own be issue. Something fishy is smelling.”
Burna Boy said he’s open to a physical fight against any artiste — Shatta Wale inclusive — who feels disgruntled or has a case against him.
“Pushing this agenda of separation between our beautiful African nations is a grave disservice to the generations coming after us. It goes against everything I stand for as a man and as an unapologetic pan Africanist,” he added.
“If Shatta or anyone has a personal problem with me, I’m still open to fight 1 on 1 and squash it after. Nobody will ruin the unity we continuously try to build for a stronger and better Africa.”
Earlier, Stonebwoy described Shatta’s stance on the issue as valid while rallying support for Ghanaian artistes.
