Burna Boy, Nigeria’s Afrofusion singer, has been announced as one of the entertainers that would be performing at the 2019 edition of Felabration, an annual music festival staged in honour of Fela Kuti, late Afrobeat singer.
The organizers of the festival took to its social media page on Tuesday to make the announcement.
While the festival is scheduled to hold between October 14 and 20, the much-acclaimed ‘African Giant’ is expected to take centre stage on October 15.
Felabration would also feature performances from other top acts from Nigeria and guest appearances from international musicians.
Themed ‘From Lagos with Love’, this year’s edition of the festival would consist of street parades, symposium on social and topical issues, debates, and photo exhibitions — to be held at the New Afrika Shrine and other venues in Ikeja, Lagos.
Burna Boy’s inclusion in the Felabration lineup comes on the heels of his impressive achievements in the Nigerian entertainment scene and his projection of the country’s music genres to platforms beyond the shores of Africa.
Aside from his critically acclaimed performance alongside Mr Eazi at the 2019 Coachella Festival, Burna Boy has made other laudable strides that has portrayed him as a true ‘African Giant’ — including his nomination as a 2019 Forbes Africa ’30 under 30′ honoree.
He’s also up for the 2019 Headies, the 2019 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards, and the 2019 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), among other accolades.
