Burna Boy is set to cover the funeral costs of the victims of the mass shooting that disrupted a two-year-old’s birthday party in Stockton, California.
The ‘African Giant’ hitmaker was moved to act after hearing the harrowing details of the November 30 attack on The Breakfast Club radio show.
The singer was said to have immediately contacted American music executive Wack 100, who then connected him with Jason Lee, CEO of Hollywood Unlocked and the vice mayor of Stockton.
“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke. After hearing the story on The Breakfast Club, I reached out to Wack 100 and connected with Jason Lee because no family should ever face this kind of pain alone,” he said in a press statement.
“I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”
“He was emotionally shaken,” Lee stated, revealing that Burna Boy was particularly distressed to learn that four children were among the victims.
The compassionate gesture arrives amid a challenging period for Burna Boy.
The Nigerian singer has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks over a viral incident at his concert in Colorado, where he ejected a couple in the front row for sleeping during his performance.
The lovers were seen leaving the auditorium to a mix of boos and cheers from the crowd.
The incident sparked widespread discussion, which intensified after an Instagram live session where Burna Boy stated he only wants supporters who buy his tickets.
The fallout appeared to have extended to the singer’s touring schedule.
Burna Boy recently cancelled two key concert stops on his ‘No Sign of Weakness’ United States tour.
