Damini Ogulu, a dancehall artiste better known as Burna Boy, was accused of being complicit in a recent robbery attack on his colleague, Mr 2Kay.
Edgal Imohimi, Lagos state commissioner of police, on Monday, asked Burna Boy to report to the police station for questioning over the incident.
The police claimed it had arraigned the suspects of the robbery who confessed to receiving instructions for the execution from Burna Boy’s road manager, Joel Kontiock.
Kontiock, who was picked up from the northern part of Nigeria, denied any involvement in the case.
Burna Boy has kept mum since the incident happened, instead he continued promoting his upcoming show in December tagged ‘The Burna Boy Show’.
However, in a new turn of events, the ‘Rock Your Body’ singer released a statement on the ongoing issue via his Twitter page on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the singer’s management said he was invited by the police but wasn’t complicit in the act.
The statement reads: “The management of Burna Boy (Spaceship Entertainment) hereby makes Ann official statement regarding the news that Burna Boy has been declared wanted by the Police.
“We use this medium to categorically state that Burna Boy, is not in any way involved with the robbery and beating up of Grafton Records’ Artiste, Mr. 2Kay on the 22nd Of October, 2017.
“The first and only invitation Burna Boy has ever received from the police was issued yesterday November 20, 2017. This invitation was honoured on November 20, 2017 and it has been made clear that he is happy to cooperate with the police as best as he can.
